“Jackelyn Dacanay was the Brand Director at the COVID-19 Action Coalition of Massachusetts (COVAC) between April and November 2020. I was the Executive Director of Communications at COVAC and directly managed Jackie in her role. She was able to grow and mentor the social media team from a starting team size of 5 people to a team of 35+ students within a short period across all major social media platforms.

Jackie developed the roles and responsibilities of the social media team which included a Team Lead, Designer, Data Analyst, and Copy Writer. She trained and introduced all team members to use advanced tools including Hootsuite, Canva, and Trello. She invested a huge amount of time in this position mentoring and overseeing the social media team. This included weekly meetings with the entire team and weekly individual meetings with each social media platform team as well as ad. hoc meetings as needed. She was able to leverage and grow the mentees talents in their roles.

During her role, Jackie also collaborated success across multiple teams in COVAC including filming and editing a social media campaign featuring 10 physicians sharing the importance of social distancing. Jackie’s vision and leadership was integral into building the COVAC brand. Her positivity made the students under her mentorship feel empowered in their roles and we all learned from her skills in marketing and branding. This was so important in getting information out to the public during the COVID-19 Pandemic. I would wholeheartedly recommend Jackie and would love to work with her again in the future.”
